ANDREW MICKELSON

Funeral services for Andrew Mickelson were held at Elim church in Randall following the prayer service in the Larson-Peterson funeral home in Story City, Nov. 15, with Rev. A.J. Bringle officiating. Burial was in Mamrelund cemetery east of Randall.

Pallbearers were Hiram Olson, Hector Tjernagel, Lars Wicks, Chris Teig, Halvor Oakland and Hans Houghland.

The following obituary was read by Rev. Bringle:

Andrew Mickelson, son of Michael and Cecelia Osbo, was born July 27, 1875 in Osbo, near Haugesund, Norway. He was baptized and confirmed in the Sveen Lutheran Parish. In June of 1898, at the age of 23 years, he came to America after being a sailor for five years. Since then he has lived in the vicinity of Story City and Randall, residing most of this time at his home one mile and a half east of Randall.

In 1904 he was united in marriage to Malinda Braland to which union four children were born, one son and three daughters.

He was a member of Elim Lutheran church of Randall.

He had been in failing health for the last year, and passed away Nov. 12 at the age of 76 years, 3 months and 15 days.

Surviving him are his wife, one son, Melvin of Iowa City; three daughters, Julia (Mrs. Truman West), Celia (Mrs. Morrel West), both of Story City and Angie (Mrs. Tiller Knutson) of Stanhope; also 12 grandchildren.

Mr. Mickelson was a good and kind father and will be greatly missed in his home, church and community. During his illness he gladly and thankfully received the spiritual ministries of his pastor and church and was resigned to God's will, both in life and death.
