Lorraine H. Untiet, 85, of Winona, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at Lake Winona Manor, Winona, MN. Lorraine was born in Stratford, Wisconsin on May 31, 1923, the daughter of Edward and Ada (Frederick) Zenner.

Lorraine was united in marriage to Merlin O. Untiet on June 28, 1943 in Stratford. She was a WW II bride, as Merlin served in the army in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Lorraine received her teaching certificate from Stevens Point, WI Teacher's College in 1943. In 1974, she earned a BS degree from Winona State College. She began her teaching career in a one-room school house in 1947 and retired from Goodview Elementary School in 1990 as one of Winona's most beloved kindergarten teachers.

Lorraine was a member of Central Lutheran Church, Winona where she was involved in the Priscilla Circle, past member of its Altar Guild and the choir. Prior to coming to Winona, she was also an active organist and Sunday School teacher.

Lorraine is survived by her husband of 65 years, Merlin; children, Larry Untiet, Spencer, IA, Karen Rose and friend John Dugal, Chippewa Falls, WI, Janet (Kevin) Ewing, Rochester, MN and Linda (Bill) Withers, Waverly, IA. Twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also survive as well as sons- in-law, Ben Halupnik, Cedar Rapids, IA, Mike Rose, Chippewa Falls, WI, and daughter-in-law, Kim Halverson-Untiet of West Des Moines, IA. Lorraine also leaves behind many dear friends, including the staff and residents at Lake Winona Manor.

Because of her strong faith in Jesus Christ, we know she now resides in Heaven with her parents and daughter, Nancy Halupnik.

Funeral services to celebrate her life will be on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008 at 10 a.m. at Central Lutheran Church, Winona, Rev. Scott E. Olson officiating. Interment will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, Stratford, WI. at 3 p.m.. Friends may call on Monday, from 4-7 p.m. at the Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home, Winona, then on Tuesday from 9 a.m. to time of services at the church.

Memorial gifts will be used to establish a scholarship fund for alumni of Goodview Elementary School who are entering the field of elementary education.
