Gerhard "Doc" Huisinga, 92, of Webster City, Iowa, died Thursday, July 24, 2008, under the care of Iowa Hospice, at Southfield Wellness Community in Webster City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 28, 2008, at the Presbyterian Church in Kamrar. Rev. John K. Wilson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Presbyterian Church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton is in charge of the arrangements.

Gerhard Huisinga was born in rural Kamrar, Iowa, on November 30, 1915, the son of Jake and Tillie Huisinga. He attended country schools east of Kamrar. Following his education Gerhard farmed northeast of Kamrar. After retiring from farming he worked at the Sale Barn in Story City.

Gerhard was a lifelong member of the Kamrar Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed playing bingo and was an avid horse shoe player.

Survivors include two brothers, Alfred Huisinga of Webster City, Iowa, and Henry Huisinga of Clarion, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Joe, Herman, Bernhard "Ben", Emory, and Willie Huisinga; and two sisters, Gertie Huisinga and Bertha Huisinga.

Memorials may be left to the Kamrar Presbyterian Church or Iowa Hospice.
