David R. Ertl, 82, of Webster City, died Saturday, May 3, 2008 at the Hamilton Hospital, Webster City. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2008 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church at Webster City with Rev. Scott Boone presiding.

Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by the American Legion Post #191. Visitation will be held from 5-8p.m. Wednesday at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 6:45 p.m.

followed by a scripture service at 7 p.m.

David Robert Ertl, son of David and Mary (Vit) Ertl was born March 5, 1926 at Fort Dodge. He graduated from Corpus Christi High School at Fort Dodge in 1945. Following graduation David attended Banking School in Norman, OK. He enlisted in the U.S.

Army and served in the Korean War. On April 16, 1949 he married Floris Kohler at the Corpus Christi Rectory at Fort Dodge. The couple made their home at Webster City. He retired from the 1st State Bank in 1988.

In addition to his wife, Floris, he is survived by sisters, Mary Drown, Joyce Ashton and Margaret Laird, all of Fort Dodge; Bettye Moberly of Webster City; Frances Meneffee of West Covina, CA; Nancy Horstmeyer of Roland Heights, CA; brothers, James Ertl of Fort Dodge; Charles Ertl of Phoenix, AZ; Jerry Ertl of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by sister, Veronica Lunn; brother, Jack Ertl and his parents.

He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the American Legion Post # 191 of Webster City and Moose Lodge # 735 of Webster City.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Humane Society of North Central Iowa or the Parkinson’s Association.
