"Jewell...
Died ---In Jewell the 9th inst. at 10 a.m., Mrs John Woods from an apoplectic stroke that she received nearly three weeks since, while in Jewell trading. She was taken to the hospitable home of Mr. J. L. Decker, where she remained until her death last Thursday morning. She was laid to rest in Evergreen Cemetery on the 12th inst. Mrs. W was in her 68th year and consequently was not fitted to withstand a severe illness. Mr. Woods has resided on his present farm near Lake Cairo for the past five years, living in Jewell for the first few months after his arrival here from Illinois. Mr. and Mrs. W. have always been held in high esteem by their acquaintances, and no better evidence is required than the large attendance at the funeral of their many friends and neighbours in the vicinity of their home. The bereft have the sympathy of all who knew them in their affliction."
