Lois Hove, 86, of Stanhope, died Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Bickford Cottage, Urbandale, Iowa. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Stanhope Parish, with Pastor Susie Moore officiating. Burial will be in theLawn Hill Cemetery, southeast of Stanhope. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday and after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Church.

Lois Mae Snyder, daughter of Harold and Clara Meyer Snyder, was born November 29, 1921 at Stanhope. She attended Stanhope Consolidated School, graduating in 1938. She worked as a telephone switchboard operator at Stanhope. On October 2, 1940, she married Leo A. Hove at Webster City. The couple farmed north of Stanhope, retiring in 1982. She had been employed at the Farmers State Bank at Stanhope for 17 years. The couple had wintered at Leisure Valley at Casa Grande, AZ for several years. Mr. Hove died January 10, 1996. She moved to Bickford Cottage in 2000.

Mrs. Hove is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Kay Hove of Omaha, NE; daughters and son-in-law, Carolyn Hove of Des Moines; Linda and Dennis Sailing of Janesville, WI; Patricia Quam of Ankeny; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Gloria Dykstra of Spencer; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Melva Rusch.

She was a longtime member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Stanhope and currently a member of the Stanhope Parish. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, camping, crocheting, knitting, tatting and golf. The family wishes to thank the staff at Bickford Cottage and Southern Care Hospice for taking care of our mother.

Memorials may be given to the Stanhope Public Library, the Stanhope Parish or to the family’s discretion.
