Gladys L. Ewing, 99, Webster City, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008 at the Crestview Senior Living. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2008 at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center with Pastor Ray Artrip officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Graceland Cemetery.

Gladys Lenore McCoskey daughter of Clinton and Letitia Sortwell McCoskey was born on January 11, 1909 at Osman, Illinois. She received her education from the Webster City Community Schools. On August 20, 1930, she married Carl Thomas Ewing in Fort Dodge. The couple resided in Duncombe and later farmed near Coalville and in the Webster City and Highview areas for over 20 years. In 1967, they moved to Webster City, where she was employed as a bookkeeper for Forresters Creamery and later Brins Furniture where she retired in 1976. Mr. Ewing died on December 4, 1990. Gladys had been residing at Crestview Senior Living for the past 3 years.

Mrs. Ewing is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carleen and Leonard Tipping of Ames, Iowa; son and daughter-in-law, Elwood and Gloria Ewing of Allerton, Iowa; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Madge McCoskey of Cedar Falls, Iowa; brother-in-law, Carl Rhoer of Webster City; and her best friend since the age of 4, Bertha Doolittle. They had been sharing a room at Crestview for the past 2 years.

In addition to her husband Carl, she was preceded in death by her great grandson, Colin Tipping; 4 brothers; 2 sisters; and her parents.

Gladys was a member of the Church of Christ in Webster City. Her memberships also included the Purity Rebekah Lodge #72 of Webster City, and she was also a Webster City Lionelle.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Church of Christ in Webster City.
