Roger L. Klaver, 65, Carroll, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2008. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll with Fr. Siby Punnose officiating. Burial is in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Carroll. Visitation is Wednesday after 2:30 p.m. at the Ohde Twit Funeral Home in Carroll. The rosary is at 3 p.m. and a vigil service is at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation continues Thursday at the church prior to mass.

Roger L. Klaver was born Sept. 18, 1943 in Webster City. He graduated from Kamrar High School. Roger served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1964 to 1967. On Nov. 16, 1970, Roger was united in marriage with Yvonne Potthoff. They farmed south of Kamrar until 1978. He then worked in fertilizer and chemical sales for Terra Industries in Strawberry Point before moving to Carroll in 1987. In 1992, he began a truck-driving career, driving for many years for Ag Processing and also for Koster Grain. He retired in 2006. Roger was a member of Holy Spirit Parish and Men’s Club, and Maurice Dunn Post #7 of the Carroll American Legion. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, walking, fishing and playing golf.

His parents, a nephew, Randy Klaver, and a daughter-in-law, Susan Klaver, preceded him in death.

Roger is survived by his wife, Yvonne Klaver, Carroll; children, Terry Klaver and wife Beth of Kamrar; Tim Klaver and wife Angie of Eldora, Marcy Puck and husband Nate of Carroll; and Curt Klaver and special friend Malinda Heuton of Ames; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; brother Lester Klaver and wife Norma of Arizona. A memorial has been established for St. Anthony Hospice and is available at the funeral home and church.
