Guy Thomas McCauliff, 75, died of complications from diabetes on Nov. 9, 2007 at his home in Charles Town, West Virginia.

The son of a doctor and youngest of four children, Guy was born and grew up in Webster City. Upon graduation from Grinnell College in 1954, he was recruited by the Connecticut General Life Insurance Company and trained in various phases of personnel work at their Hartford headquarters. After a marriage of several years ended in divorce, Guy obtained a position as Sales Training Manager with Philip Morris, Inc., in New York City. A few years later, he relocated to San Francisco, where he was employed first by Levi Strauss & Company (Education and Training Specialist), and then Kaiser-Permanente Medical Group (Director of Staff Development). In 1973, he returned to New England to accept a position as Director of Personnel for the Connecticut BancFederation. For the next quarter century, Guy made his home in the Hartford, Conn. area, retiring in 1997 from Modern School/a subsidiary of Alvin & Co. At this time, he chose Jefferson County, WV. for his retirement.

In addition to his parents, Guy was predeceased by a brother, Lon Hathway and sister, Jeanette Groves. He is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Frank Culbertson of Webster City, and longtime companion, Robert Wegner of Charles Town. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery in Webster City. Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association.
