Jerry G. "Hoot" Freerksen, 64, Webster City, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003 at his home in Webster City. A graveside service will be on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Visitation will be Monday, 5 to 7 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Memorials may be sent to the Freerksen Family, in care of Charles Freerksen, 507 S. 14th St., Fort Dodge, Ia., 50501.
Jerry G. "Hoot" Freerksen, the son of Fred and Mae Bornholt Freerksen, was born June 11, 1939, in Eagle Grove. Both of Jerry's parents died when he was a young child and he lived with several relatives and attended schools in Eagle Grove, Iowa Falls, Fort Dodge, Cheyenne, Wyo., and Alabama.
He married Joan Fosnaugh on May 17, 1964 at the home of G.D. Warland in Webster City.
Jerry worked as a deliveryman for Brins Furniture Store and as a maintenance man for Hamilton County Hospital and McDonalds. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Webster City. He loved fishing, ball games, and watching car races at the Hamilton County Speedway.
Survivors are his wife, Joan, Webster City; sons, Darrell and his wife, Jenna, Burlington, Wis., and Charles and wife Mindy, Fort Dodge; three grandsons, Joshua, Cole and Zachary; brother, Marvin Freerksen of Mason City; two aunts, Dorothy Newell and Pearl McCoy, Fort Dodge; sister-in-law, Lorraine Anderson, Eagle Grove; special niece, Debbie Edwards of Eagle Grove, and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
