Sena Marie Rahto

Sena Marie Rahto, age 88, a resident of Bethany Manor in Story City, since 1991, died Wednesday, April 27, 1994 at Mary Greeley Medical Cener in Ames, Iowa of heart failure. Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 30 1994, at the First Presbyterian Church of Brewster, Minnesota. Rev. Frank Elliott officiated with burial at the Hersey Cemetery in Brewster. Becker Funeral Home in Jewell was in charge of arrangements.

Sena was born in Round Lake, Minnesota on October 8, 1905 to Wilke and Gesina (Dirks) Koster. On October 11, 1929 she married John Kenneth Rahto in Round Lake, Minnesota. They farmed in the Jewell area from 1929 until 1937, then farmed in Pine Center, Minnesota from 1937 until 1942, moving back to the Jewell area to farm until buying a farm in the Brewster, Minnesota area in 1947. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Brewster.

Sena is survived by three sons, John W. Rahto and his wife, Geri, of Brainerd, Minnesota, Richard K. Rahto and his wife, Mary, of Jewell, Iowa and James A. Rahto and his wife Sylvia of Lenexa, Kansas; ten grandchildren, Judy Thorson, Jackie Britton, Marge Hillman, John Rahto and Tom Rahto, all of Brainerd, Minnesota, Terry Medecke of Little Fork, Minnesota, Susan Hertzke of Jewell, Kenneth Rahto of Ellsworth, and James II and Michael Rahto of Lenexa, Kansas; twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. Sena was preceded in death by her parents, her husband J. Kenneth Rahto in 1973, five sisters and four brothers: Grace, Mary (Gesina), Anna, Lena, Wihelmina, Herman, Dick, Willie and John.
