Wilfred Hecht

Wilfred William Hecht, 79, of Jewell died Wednesday, Feb 28 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell with Rev. Lee Laaveg officiating. Burial will be in Sherburn Cemetery in Sherburn, Minn.

Friends may call at Becker Funeral Home in Jewell tonight from 5 o'clock to 9 o'clock and on Saturday at the church until the time of service.

He was born Sept. 28, 1910 in Lytton, the son of Alvert and Elise Ditzel Hecht.

He farmed in the Dunnell, Minn., area, was street commissioner in Sherburn, Minn., and also was employed in the construction industry as heavy equipment operator. He resided in Jewell for the past 18 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah, in 1966.

On Feb 12, 1972, he married Wilma Koop at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma, of Jewell; four sons, Robert of Alpha, Minn., Russell of Estherville, Richard of Dunnell, Minn., and Kenneth of Lincoln, Calif.; one daughter, Shirley Boyer of St. Paul, Minn.; two stepsons, John Koop of Riverside, Calif., and Keith Koop of Des Moines; and two stepdaughters, Betty Clark of Ames and Laurene Murphy of Las Vegas, Nev.

In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by a son and two sisters.
