Carroll Benjamin Kinseth, 85, Story City, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2002 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. The cause of death was a heart attack. A memorial service will be held on January 11, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. at the Immanual Lutheran Church in Story City with Pastors Stephen Anenson and John Engelstad officiating. Burial of the cremains will take place at Mr. Olive Cemetery at Randall. Soderstrum-Larson funeral home in Story City is in charge of the arrangements.

Carroll Benjamin Kinseth was born August 31, 1917 on a farm near Bradgate, Iowa to Clarence and Christina (Benjamin) Kinseth. He attended a business college in Chillicothe, Missouri and also the University of Wisconsin's Graduate School of Banking. After serving in the South Pacific as an Air Force pilot in WWII, he worked for Alcoa Aluminum 23 years, ending his career as National Sales Manager. In 1967, Mr. Kinseth purchased the Randall State Bank in Randall and eventaully moved its charter to Story City where it became known as the Randall-Story Bank. He served as President and CEO.

Mr. Kinseth married Thora Brekken on June 18, 1941. He was a businessman, philanthropist and banker. He served as treasurer for American Lutheran church for the State of Iowa and served on the Board of Regents at Waldorf College. He was active in Kiwanis and other Story City community enterpises.

Carroll B Kinseth was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Thora M. Kinseth of Story City; two daughters, Kay Ehlers (husband Don) of Omaha, Nebraska and Julie Zaring (husband Tim) of Cincinnati, Ohio; five grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Memorials may be made to the Immanual Lutheran Church in Story City or to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
