Glenn Thomas Richard, 83, of Corydon passed away May 31, 1995, of respiratory failure at the Wayne County Hospital in Corydon. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 3, 1995 at Randolph Funeral Home in Corydon with Rev. Paul Grandon officiating. Interment was in the Humeston Cemetery. Memorials were established to Corydon United Methodist Church or the Humeston Christian Methodist Church.
Mr. Richard was born near Cambria, Iowa on December 22, 1911, the son of Herman and Mable (Street) Richard. He was a member of the Corydon United Methodist Church. He graduated from Humeston High School.
On April 21, 1935 he married Doris Helen Baker and they had four children. Glenn and Doris had just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in April. For 35 years he was self-employed in grocery and restaurant businesses in Jewell and Iowa City. For the past thirty years he was an advertising specialty representative. They lived on an acreage near Stanhope for 15 years until his declining health, moving to Corydon in 1988 where Doris still resides. Glenn was an active member of Lions, Kiwanis and Elks.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; a brother and sister-in-law, Keith ahd Marie Richard and a brother-in-law Don Bright.
He is survived by his wife, Doris; children, Michael and Kathy Richard of Mesa, Arizona; Deanne Jacobs, Boone; Kenneth Richard, Iowa City; Susan and Dale Lloyd, Charles City; seventeen grandchildren and two great-grandsons; a brother, Forrest Richard and wife, Ruth; two sisters, Erma Niday and husband, Louis; and Mildred Bright, all of Humeston; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
