Hamilton Freeman, Webster City, Iowa
Wednesday, February 4, 1874
Another Good Man Gone-- Alexander Turner, one of the oldest and most generally respected citizens of Hamilton county, died at his home in Webster City, on the 1st inst., at the age of nearly 68 years.
He was the son of John and Anna Turner, and was born in Loudon county, Virginia in June 1805. He became a resident of Janesville, Ohio in 1837; moved to Homer, in this county in 1854 and from thence to Webster City in 1856, where he resided up to the day of his death. He was an upright, worthy man, and will be much missed in the community where he lived so long and was so highly appreciated.
He suffered uncomplainingly through many months of serious illness, and in his demise, a confiding husband and beloved father has passed away. An aged companion with whom he lived happily for 45 years, a son and two daughters are left to mourn their irreparable loss. He devoted much of his last days in studying the Word of God, and passed peacefully away in the full hope of a bright and happy hereafter.
He was buried yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock, the services being conducted at his late residence by Rev. H. T. Curl.
Noble heart! kind friend! hail and farewell.
