Dies at Home Here
Funeral Services to Be Held Sunday Afternoon at 2 o’clock
Nathan S. Claflin died at 11:30 o’clock this morning at his home six miles south of this city following an illness of five weeks. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Foster Funeral home.
Besides his wife, he leaves three daughters, one son and two step children whose names follow: Mrs. C.H. Hill of Webster City; Clarence Claflin of Webster City; Mrs. Alvie Hanson of Webster City; Mrs. Marshal Hanson of Kamrar,; E.E. Claflin of Webster City; Henry Canfield of Webster City and Grace Griffith of Sheldon, Illinois. An obituary will follow later.

Nathan S. Claflin. Nathan S. Claflin was born at Barrington, Illinois June 13,1856, and died at the farm home about six miles south of Webster City,Thursday, Dec. 12, 1929, at the age of 73 years, 5 months, and 29 days.

Mr. Claflin was the seventh of a family of twelve children born to John and Martha Claflin, who were themselves natives of Canada. Mr. Claflin came to Iowa with his parents in the fall of 1867 and settled in Hamilton county south of Webster City. In August, 1868 he was married to Miss
Viola Williams, and he continued to live in the same neighborhood until the time of his death. He and his wife were both believers in the redemptive power of Christ and were baptized into His body in the early period of their married life. His wife preceded him in death, having died in the year 1924. On July 10, 1929 [typo in paper stated 1919] he was married to Mrs. Sarah Canfield, at Webster City. In his passing he leaves to survive him his present wife, four children, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren, also two step children. The children are Clarence and Mrs. Cecil Hill, of Webster City, Mrs. Alva Hanson and Mrs. Marshall Hanson, both living south of Webster City on the farm. The step children are Henry Canfield and Mrs. Grace Griffeth.

Funeral services were held at the Foster Funeral Home in Webster City December 15, and burial made in the beautiful Graceland Cemetery.
