Leona Mary Rodemeyer, 70, Cedar Rapids, died at home Wednesday, April 9, 2003 after a sudden illness. Services:10:30 a.m. Saturday at Teahen Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids by the Rev. Bill Harnish. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call at Teahen Funeral Home after 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
Survivors include her husband Ron; a daughter Rona Lea (William) Wyant of Marengo; two sons, Mark (Leslie) Rodemeyer of Cedar Rapids, and John (Sandra) of Anaheim, CA; and six grandchildren, Cassie (Zach) Bott, Levi Wyant, Bret Wyant, Lucas Nielsen, Blake Rodemeyer, and Nicole (Chad) Slattery; and two great grandchildren, Austin and Keegan Slattery.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Leonard Brandt, and twin sons, David and Dennis.
Born July 17, 1932 in Woolstock to Englehart and Ada Hillpiper Brandt, she married Ronald Dean Rodemeyer at the Little Brown Church in Nashua on April 17, 1953. Their 50th anniversary was to be celebrated April 17th.
She worked in retail at Armstrong's for over 10 years, retiring in 1989. During Leona's retirement, she devoted energy, enthusiasm and support for the Elk's Lodge.
Her smiles and hugs will be greatly missed.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
