Mrs. Severson Dies at 90

Mrs. Ellen Severson, 90, longtime resident of the Duncombe - Webster City communities, died at 4:20 p.m. Thursday at her home 1107 First street. She had been in ill health the past 15 years and had been bedfast the past six years.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Washington Lutheran church in Duncombe, preceded by a brief service at 1:15 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Oscar Elm, 855 Elm street.

The Rev. Benjamin Coltvet of Duncombe will officiate and burial will be in the Washington Lutheran cemetery at Duncombe. The body will lie in state at Foster funeral home until 10 o'clock Sunday morning at which time it will be taken to the Elm Home.

Ellen Jacobson, daughter of Engel and Bertha Jacobson, was born April 14, 18(6)6, at Pontiac, Ill. She was a young girl when the family moved in a covered wagon to Benton county, Iowa, residing there until she was five, when they moved to a farm northeast of Duncombe. She was reared and educated in the Duncombe community.

She was united in marriage July 4 1888 to John Severson, and the couple farmed southeast of Duncombe for many years. Her husband preceded her in death Nov. 7, 1928. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, three sisters, a half-brother, four grand-children, and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Severson is survived by two daughters and three sons: Miss Louise Severson, Mrs. Oscar (Mamie) Elm, Amos Severson, and Jakie Severson, all of Webster City; Martin Severson of Duncombe, 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Christina Davidson of Duncombe, and Mrs. Martha Storey of Woodbine, Iowa; a half sister, Mrs. Bertha Ness of Duncombe.

Mrs. Severson was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She was a lifelong memeber of the Washington Lutheran church at Duncombe and was also a lifelong member of the Ladies Aid organization of that church,
