"Another Old Settler Gone-- Charles Albright Died at the Family Home Four Miles South of Webster City. Aged 75 years. He Died of Heart Failure.
Mr. Albright settled in Hamilton County Fifty Years Ago-- Leaves Large Family.
Charles Albright, one of the well known and highly respected pioneer settlers of Hamilton County died at his home four miles south of this city Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, of heart failure, at the age of 75 years.
Deceased was born in Germany on the 18th of July, 1833, and came to America nineteen years later, locating in Summit county, Ohio. In 1858 he came to Hamilton county and settled on section 26, Hamilton township, and entered a claim with the government for 160 acres of land with no improvements of any kind. After eight years he sold this farm for $1,200 and purchased the place where he died, having lived there forty-two years. In the early days he suffered the inconveniences of all farmers in this country. There being no railroad in Hamilton county he had to haul his produce to Boone until the Illinois Central reached Webster City in 1869.
On the 15th of May, 1863, Mr. Albright was united in marriage to Miss Mary A. Brock. To Mr. and Mrs. Albright were born nine children, all of whom survive the father. They are: Mary E., wife of George McDermott of Clarion; Chas. W., John, Allie, Dora, Mrs. Antone Singer, Mrs. G.W. Adams, Mrs. A.F. Adams and Mrs. Michael Fiddler, all of whom reside in this county. The wife also survives.
Mr. Albright was well known throughout Hamilton County as a man of the highest integrity and business uprightness. He was respected and esteemed by all, and aside from his material possessions, leaves his family the priceless heritage of a good name.
