Harold G. Crosby, 86, Lancaster, California, died Tuesday, Aug 23, 2005 at Antelope Valley Nursing Home.
Harold was born July 11, 1919, the son of Ernest Melvin and Bernice (Genung) Crosby at Hamilton County Hospital, Webster City, Iowa. He attended and graduated from Webster City High School. He attended one year of college at Iowa State College in Ames.
Harold played the tuba for school, 4-H and the city band. In August 1936, he won the 4-H Iowa Health Championship Award at the State Fair. On Dec. 1, 1936, he placed 2nd at Nationals in Chicago.
On May 12, 1946, Harold was married to Mary Eileen Blalock at First Church of Christ, Webster City. They farmed at Webster City and Goldfield where their children were born and he was happiest. They moved to California in June1963. They resided in Orange and later Anaheim where he worked in the electronics industry. They were members at Anaheim First Church of the Nazarene for 25 years. They retired in Mesa, Arizona but for health reasons came back to California in 1993.
Harold loved music! He and Eileen sang together in Iowa and he always sang in the church choir. In the nursing home, he lived for Monday mornings when he could sing with the Nazarene Singers.
Those thankful for having shared Harold's life include his wife, Eileen, children Chuck Crosby, Barbara (Crosby) Stagner, and Nancy (Klapinski) Crosby; six grandchildren, Anne Marie, Michelle Renee, Jacqueline Elizabeth, Rebecca Lynn, Brenda Deann, and Kristianne.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Wava (Doolittle) Crosby, two brothers, James and Max Crosby, and daughter-in-law Esther (Swafford) Crosby.
