Frank Miller, one of the Illinois Central grading gang and a victim of the Cigarette habit, woke up the other morning a crazy man and attempted to commit murder. He had arrived from Chicago in company with a number of other laborers and was living in the camp in the western part of Webster City. Another member of the gang, Ralph Robinson, pulled open the flap of the sleeping tent and started to enter the tent when Miller, who was sleeping near the end of the tent, grabbed a heavy club and shouted, “Don’t come by here or I’ll brain you!” With a laugh the other man continued on his way, when he received a crushing blow on the head from the club in the hands of Miller. Officers were sent for and they arrested the assailant and placed him in the city jail. Robinson will recover.
