Final rites for Mrs. Hazel Wiedman, longtime Jamaica resident, were held Monday at 2 pm from the Jamaica Union Church. The pastor, Rev Vincent L. James, officiated. She died at her home in Rippey September 14.
Mrs. Bill Stanley was organist and accompanied Mrs. LeRoy Overman when she sang two hymns. The casket was carried by Warren Winchell, Dale Winchell, Derald Carson, Jack McComb, Andy McComb and Leo Ellis.
Interment was made in the Richland cemetery.
Mary Hazel Wiedman, daughter of John and Fannie Vasey Lee, was born March 5, 1893, in Greene County near Cooper and passed away Friday, September 14 at her home in Rippey at 80 years of age.
She lived her entire life in Greene and Guthrie counties, and was the last of a family of nine children.
On February 5, 1913, Hazel was married to Rhinehart Wiedman in Jefferson. To this union, one daughter, Bernice, was born. The couple lived their married life in Jamaica. Mr. Wiedman died in 1953. For the past twelve years, Mrs. Wiedman has lived in Rippey, but she continued to be active in the Jamaica Ladies Aid and Jamaica Garden Club and Homemakers Club.
Mrs. Wiedman was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers and four sisters, and one granddaughter. Her survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Bernice Winchell of Rippey, an adopted daughter, Mrs. Maxine Birmingham of Perry, on step-son, Robert Lee of Minneapolis, Minn, who the Wiedmans raised from Infancy, five grandchildren; Tom Birmingham of Minneapolis, Anita Dodson of Spring Lake, N C, Gene, Joseph and Patrick Lee of Minneapolis, one great-grandson , James Roger Dodson of Spring Lake, N C, other relatives and many friends.
