Funeral services for Clarence Ratzlaff were held Wednesday at 10:30 a m from the United Methodist church in Scranton. The longtime employee of the Ralston Cooperative died unexpectedly Sunday night at his home in Ralston.
A native of Missouri, Mr. Ratzlaff, 73, was the son of Jacob and Anna Fletcher Ratzlaff. After living in Bayard area, he worked for more than 30 years at the Co-Op. He retired in 1965.
On November 30, 1942, he was married to Elsie Vickers in Maryville, Missouri.
The pastor of the church, Rev David Barker, officiated at the final rites and Mrs. B. E. Friend served as organist. The casket was carried by George Gregory, Clifford Dickinson, Owen Nesbitt, William Wright, James Gleason and Lindsey Nicholson. Interment was made in the Scranton cemetery.
Survivors besides his wife include sisters, Mrs. William (Mary) Jackson, Bayard; Mrs. Lester (Elizabeth) Tuel, Coon Rapids; Mrs. Russell (Edith) Renshaw, Bagley and Mrs. Mrs. Susan Brown, Carroll, and brothers, Ira, Des Moines; Fred; Mason City, and Henry, Bagley. Two brothers preceded him in death.
A veteran of World War 11, Mr. Ratzlaff was a member of the Merle Hay Post of the American Legion at Glidden. He was a member of the Methodist church and the Odd Fellows Lodge in which he had held many offices.
