Pioneer Yale Businessman J Lloyd Caple died July 8 following a short illness. Prior to his retirement several years ago the 88 year old pioneer had operated a hardware store and funeral home in Yale.
Final rites were held from the First Methodist Church in Yale Tuesday at 10:30 am with Rev Paul Donelson of Bagley officiating. The organist was Mrs. Betty Dallinger.
Honorary bearers were William Keebler, Guy Middleton, Aaron McKay, Frank Pohl, Dale Lisle and Tom Miner. The casket was carried by Don Mleynek, Clark Pohl, Vernon Chaloupka, Dave Jack, Orville Deardorff and Ardean Winters. Interment was made in the Yale Cemetery.
J Lloyd Caple, son of Milo and Nannie McCrosky Caple, was born April 16, 1889, in Monroe and departed this earth July 8, 1977, at the age of 88 years, two months and 22 days.
At the age of three, Lloyd, with his parents moved to Yale.
He received his elementary education at Yale school, attended AIB and took a mortuary course.
On November 3, 1917, Lloyd enlisted in the service. October 13, 1918, he was sent overseas. Upon returning to the states, July 31, 1919. he received his honorable discharge.
Returning to Yale, he entered into partnership with his father in the hardware and undertaking business, serving the local community until retirement.
On November 10, 1920, Lloyd was united in marriage with Ina VanDeventer. A son, Donald Orr, was born to this union June 3, 1926. At the tender age of 10, Donald was called to his heavenly home. On April 6, 1941, a sister and brother, Louise Mae and John Dean, came to brighten the Caple home.
Lloyd was a member of the Masonic Lodge and received his 50 year certificate May 29, 1964. On February 1, 1973, he received his 50 year certificate from the American Legion. He was also a member of the Modern Woodman.
At an early age Lloyd joined the Methodist church and was an active participant as long as health permitted.
Preceding him in death were his son, Donald, a sister, Fern, and his mother and father.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Ina; daughter, Louise, and her husband, Sherwood Doutrich; son, John Dean, and his wife, Veronica; five grandchildren, relatives and friends.
In all the years of his life Lloyd not only was a loving and caring husband and father but also found time for his fellowmen, lending a hand and helping others on their way.
