Funeral services for Robert Thomas Byrns, 52, will be today at 10 am from the Slininger Chapel in Jefferson. Son of George and Mary Briggs Byrns of Tucson, Arizona, Robert died while visiting his parent in Tucson last Saturday. He was the victim of an apparent heart attack.
Born in Greenbrier Township June 25, 1925, Mr. Byrns spent all of his life farming until he suffered a heart attack several years ago. He was graduated from the Cooper high school with the class of 1942 and in 1943 he joined the Air Force and served until 1945.
on April 29, 1944 Robert and Sarah Molle were married in Oklahoma City, Okla. They were parent of there daughters and one son.
Robert was a member of the United Methodist Church of Cooper, Sedan Post No. 302 at Bagley, Odd Fellows Lodge No. 152 of Bagley and the Bagley Lions Club.
Besides his parents and widow, he is survived by daughters, Marilyn (Mrs. Robert) Whitsitt, Omaha, Nebr; Marjory (Mrs. Ken) Festvog, Des Moines; Rosemary (Mrs. Jeffrey) Wagner, Portland, Oreg; a son Robert Jr, West Des Moines; grandchildren, Robert, Jr, Randal and Shanna Whitsitt, Karen Shearman and Heather Warner; sisters, Irene (Mrs. Conrad) Herrick, Denver, Colo; Vava (Mrs. Shurdan) Young, Tucson; Mary (Mrs. Gerald ) Page, Des Moines; Sally (Mrs. William) Woods, Gowrie; and Nancy (Mrs. Charles) Hartwigsen, Upland, Calif.
Rev Paul Donelson, pastor of the Cooper United Methodist Church will officiated at the service and interment will be made in the Richland Township Cemetery with the casket being carried by Robert Safley, Jr, Rodney and Alan Frederick and Steven, Kent and William, Jr, Woods.
