The Bayard News June 30, 1977

C J Wilson of Bayard died suddenly about noon Friday, June 24, in Gainesville, Florida. He, his wife, Phyllis and their five children had been in Florida to visit his sister. They were enroute home when the car stalled at an intersection. C J and a policeman were trying to move the car when he died. He had a history of heart trouble and in fact, had to give up operation of the Bayard Café due to his illness. He had been in the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines on several occasions.
Two doctors and a nurse were at the scene but nothing could be done to save him.
There will be no services for C J had donated his remains to science.
Mrs. Wilson telephoned Daryl and Fern Betts Sunday to tell them of his death. She and the children will not start home until after the holiday. The children are Michael, Angela, Kathy, Bernedette and Mary Ann, the oldest being 15.
Betts Standard has a collection box at the station if anyone would care to donate to Mrs. Wilson and her children.
