The Bayard News Thursday, July 12, 1973

Requiem Mass for Nicholas Bauer 75, was held from the Annunciation Catholic Church in Coon Rapids Monday at 1:30 p m. Mr Bauer died July 6 in St Anthony hospital in Carroll following a year’s illness caused by leukemia. During that time he had 49 blood transfusions.
A native of Coon Rapids, Mr Bauer farmed in the Bayard area from 1939 until his retirement in 1962. In 1970 the family moved to Coon Rapids.
Born at Manning December 5, 1897, the son of Nick and Josephine (Hormer) Bauer, he moved with the family to Milford and on February 14, 1924, he was married to Minnie Anne Berning in Milford.
Eight children were born to Mr and Mrs Bauer and all of them survive their father. They are daughters, Mrs Dwain (Lois) Shirbroun, Coon Rapids and Mrs Robert (Arlene) Klapperich, Lincoln, Nebr, and sons, Edward, Leland, Robert and Richard of Omaha, Nebr; Donald, Coon Rapids, and James, Humboldt. There are 26 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, a brother and four sisters.
The six sons served as casket- bearers and interment was made in the Annunciation cemetery. A rosary at the Mason Funeral Home Sunday at 8 p m and the requiem mass were officiated by Rev Cleo Seuntjens, associate pastor, St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dedham.
