The Bayard News Thursday, Oct. 18, 1973

Lewis Alvin Halterman died early Tuesday at the Guthrie County hospital where he had been a patient for about three weeks.
Born in Dallas County January 8, 1895, he farmed in the Bayard area for many years and had lived in Guthrie Center since retiring several years ago.
The body is at the Beidelman funeral Home in Guthrie Center and services will be at 2 p m Friday from the United Methodist Church in Guthrie Center. The pastor, Rev J Milton Kinney, will officiate and there will be military graveside rites at Highland cemetery by the Omar B Shearer Post of the American Legion.
He is survived by his widow, Clara, daughter, Mrs George (Lenore) Rasmussen of Coon Rapids, and sons, Gerald of Poway, Calif; Wayne of Bayard and Alvin of Papillion, Nebr. Also he is survived by a brother, Sewall, of Omaha, and sisters, Elvina (Mrs Lloyd) Raygor, Coon Rapids; Eldora Hill, Glendive, Mont; Velma (Mrs Carl) Blunk, Denison, and Ellen (Mrs Ray) Nelson, Webster City. There are 14 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
