Howard Hall, 74, of Stuart passed away, Wednesday, May 17, at the VA Medical Center in Des Moines.

Memorial services will be held toady at 2 p.m. at Ruppert Funeral Home in Stuart. Friends may call one hour prior to services.

Born the son of Edward and Francis (Kuster) Hall in Guthrie Center, Iowa on October 27, 1930, he grew up and went to country schools in the Guthrie County area.

In 1952, he was united in marriage to Betty Downing. In that same year he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served in the Korean Conflict.

In 1961, he moved to Colorado where he worked as a welder/fabricator, heavy equipment operator and foreman of local construction crews and was a member of Operating Engineers Local #9.

In 1993, he returned to Iowa and settled in Stuart where in 1998 he was united in marriage to Patsy Hagen. Howard loved fishing, camping, old western movies and country music.

He is survived by sons, Dennis (Mara) Hall of Bertout, CO; Chuck (Lesli) Hall of Arvada, CO; wife Patsy of Stuart, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, five step sons, Wayne, Kevin, Jim and Jon Waddell and Matt Hagen, twelve Step-grandchildren, including his partner in crime, grandson Mason Hagen, two sisters, Doris Camesao, Joyce Trent; two brothers, George and Lawrence Hall.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty, three sisters and two brothers. ~ The Des Moines Register, Des Moines, Iowa 17 May 2006.
