David K. Sarbaugh was born October 31, 1845 in Jefferson County, Ohio and peacefully slipped away into his eternal home on December 2, 1934, at the age of 89 years, 1 month and 2 days.

Mr. Sarbaugh was not prone to roam around a great deal but there were several moves before he came to live in Stuart, Iowa, sixteen years ago. In 1852 he moved to Clayton County, Iowa with his parents and half siblings. The family moved to Allamakee County, Iowa in the spring of 1853. From there he moved to Adair County in the year 1872.

On September 12, 1867, he was married to Eliza Kelly in Paint Creek Township, near Rossville, in Allamakee County, Iowa. They enjoyed a little over sixty-seven years of wedded life. Theirs was a close and cherished companionship during those many years together. David and Eliza did not have any children.

Mr. Sarbaugh united with the Methodist Episcopal Church after moving to Adair County. The worship services of the church with which he united were being held in a school house. After moving to Stuart he transferred his membership here. He loved the church. Even after he was afflicted with deafness he came to the services of worship even though he could not understand a word that was said.

He was a man who did not put himself forward a great deal. He was more the quiet and unassuming type of person. He never held prominent positions in the community but he was always ready to give what help he could toward accomplishing the worthwhile things that needed to be done. He was especially interested in those who were sick, making many calls where the need presented itself.

Mr. Sarbaugh reached a ripe old age before his soul was called from his body, but even then death brings its sadness to those left behind. He
leaves to mourn his departure his devoted wife, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the M.E. Church, conducted by Rev. Roy E. Gugslar. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery in Stuart, Iowa.
CARD OF THANKS: I desire to extend my sincere thanks to the neighbors and friends for their kindness and assistance during the illness and at the death of my beloved husband.
Mrs. D.K. Sarbaugh.
