In Response To: Re: Birth Dates (Carol Muery)

I found quite a bit of information for you which I believe will be of help in your further research.

You located Ida M. Wambold in an 1885 Iowa state census in Grove Twp., in Howard County. That is in error. The transcription which has been recorded in the index is not in Howard but in Humboldt County, Iowa. It is instead Grove Twp., Humboldt County, Iowa.

To sum up what I found for you [which I will also post to the Humboldt County Genweb Query Board]:

Ida May Wambold is the daughter of William B. Wambold and Harriett Hewett. She married William Ferguson. William B. Wambold was a Civil War soldier from Illinois who was born in Pennsylvania. He was born October 30, 1833 and died January 3, 1915 in Eagle Grove, Wright, Iowa. He is buried in Union Cemetery in Humboldt, Iowa. You should be able to locate more on William through his Civil War service and pension application. Although his wife Harriett's name and birthdate [Harriett M. Wambold -- Born May 18, 1846] are on the tombstone, I do not believe that she is buried there.

After William B. Wambold died, Harriett married William Callis Moseley on August 7, 1916 in Eagle Grove, Wright, Iowa and moved with him to San Diego, California. William Moseley died there in 1929 and Harriett died in San Diego on January 6, 1931.

Harriett Hewett Wambold Moseley is the daughter of Harvey W Hewett [August 24, 1823 – September 9, 1896] and Hannah (Chisholm/Chissom) Hewett [ca. 1828 – April 23, 1884] who are both buried in Union Cemetery in Humboldt, Humboldt, Iowa.
