Theodore Meinders

Services are pending at the Nelson Funeral Home for Theodore Meinders, 81, 510 4th Avenue who died at 3:40 a.m. Friday in Iowa City Hospital.

Mr. Meinders (Theije (Theodore) Lewis Meinders, Sr.) was born in Germany August 18, 1882, the son of Herbert and Arlene (Spiek) Meinders. He married Johanna Wiese November 20, 1912 in Waterloo.

He was a member of the First Methodist Church. The couple had lived here since 1918.

Survivors include his wife; two sons; Ted, Jr., 1318 West 5th St. and Danny, of Pomeroy; three daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Baugh, Main St.; Mrs. Faye Backerman, of Topeka, Kansas; Mrs. Merle Watson, living in Georgia; two brothers, Herman and Dick of Cedar Falls; two sisters, Mrs. Ricka Chapman, Storm Lake, Mrs. Christina Beckman, Waterloo; 22 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the funeral home after noon on Saturday.
