W. D. GILCHRIST DIED LAST NIGHT.
William Dempsey Gilchrist died last night at his home on South Fifth Street about eleven o'clock, after a lingering illness of tuberculosis. Mr. Gilchrist was well known in Fairfield, having made this city his home for about thirty-five years. For twenty-one years past he has been employed as sexton of the City Cemetery, only relinquishing that work when ill health compelled him to remain in bed. About 48 years of age; survived by wife and eight children, six of whom are at home. Funeral tomorrow at 2:30 at the Free Methodist Church and interment in the cemetery where he was employed for so many years.
