Tim G. Stokes

Dunkerton-- Tim G. Stokes, 64, of Dunkerton, died at home Tuesday, Nov. 27, of cancer.

He was born July 1, 1943, in Black Hawk County, son of Ray George Stokes and Maxine Genevieve Creagan. On March 27, 1972, he married Maxine M. Janssen of Pottstown, Pa.

Mr. Stokes served in the U.S. Army in Cuba, Korea and Vietnam from 1961 to 1967, during which time he came in contact with Agent Orange. He was employed as an iron worker with Local 89, followed by 10 years of long-haul trucking and most recently he owned and operated a portable welding business, Tim's Welding.

Survivors include: his wife, a brother-in-law, Gerald Janssen of Anchorage, Alaska; a sister-in-law, Sally (Doug) Duesenberg of Clear Lake; four nephews, Jeff Sells of Leander, Texas, Doug (Michelle) Sells of Columbus, Neb., Steve (Barb) Sells of Faribault, Minn. and Bill Duesenberg of Maple Grove, Minn.; and many special great-nephews and great-nieces.

Preceded in death by: his parents; and a sister, Sharon (Stokes) Sells.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Friday at Dunkerton United Methodist Church, Dunkerton, followed by military rites at Veterans Park, Dunkerton. Public visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. today at White Funeral Home, Jesup.

Memorials: may be directed to the family for Cedar Valley Hospice, Dunkerton United Methodist Church and the Dunkerton Veterans Memorial.

Tim enjoyed his involvement with the Pony Express in support of Camp Sunnyside near Ankeny, and served as regional ride chairman in Northeast Iowa.
