Miss Maria King Dies Sunday at Aug. Nolta Home

Funeral Services Held From Presbyterian Church Tuesday Afternoon

Miss Maria Elizabeth King, who has been a resident of this city the past thirteen years, passed away at 6:00 o'clock Sunday morning at the August Nolta home. Death was due to complications resulting from a fall which she suffered several weeks ago.

Miss King was the daughter of Samuel and Susan King, and was born at Raretown, Ill., Dec. 20, 1862. When 10 years of age she moved with her parents to Morrison, Iowa, where she lived until 1922, at which time she moved to State Center, where she resided in the August Nolta home. She had been in failing health for several years.

When a young girl, she united with the Presbyterian Church at Morrison. She taught a Sunday school class for many years, assuming the duties of her first class when fifteen years of age. She also served as Sunday School Superintendent for a period of many years. She served as postmistress at Morrison for some time. For the past twelve years she had been a member of the local Presbyterian Church and a member of the Loyal Bible Class to which she remained faithful, although illness kept her from attending services.

She was the sole survivor of her immediate family, her mother, father, two brothers, Joseph and Alexander, and infant sister having preceded her in death.

She leaves to mourn her passing, one sister-in-law, Mrs. Lizzie King of Harris, Iowa; two nieces, Mrs. Joseph Roszell of Harris, Iowa; Mrs. Ray Allen of Van Wert, Iowa; there nephews, Sam King of Sioux City, Ia.; Kenneth King of Harris, Iowa; Earl King of Grundy Center, Iowa and eight grand nieces and nephews, also many loving friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 12:30 o'clock from the Nolta residence and at 1:00 o'clock from the Presbyterian church, in charge of Rev. Wm. Roberts. Burial was in the cemetery at Morrison. Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Nolta and Mrs. George Nolta of Madelia, Minn., were among those present from a distance.
