Darlene Susanne Harting, 79 years old of Jesup, IA, died Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at her rural home. She was born July 19, 1934, in Guthrie County, IA, the daughter, of Carl John Schick and Erna (Fischer) Schick. She graduated from Reinbeck High School with the class of 1952. On January 10, 1953, she was united in marriage to Robert Lester Harting in Missouri. They later divorced.
Darlene was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Jesup. She had worked as a cook most recently for Jesup Community Schools and previously at Covenant Medical Center and various restaurants.
Darlene is survived by two sons, Leland “Lee” (Dixie) Harting of Gilbertville, Leonard (Bonnie) Harting of Jesup; one daughter, Roberta “Bobbie” (Cliff Federspiel) Harting of Jesup; one son-in-law, David Jones of Waterloo; 12 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; five brothers, John Schick of Missouri, Richard Schick of Grundy Center, Robert (Gladys) Schick of Wisconsin, Carl (Peg) Schick of Reinbeck, Henry Schick of Morrison; five sisters, Pearl Heikens of Virginia, Jean Newton of Grundy Center, Joan (Jack) Fogt of Reinbeck, LaVonne Hougan of Grundy Center, Lois Schick of Denver, Colorado; and one sister-in-law, Mary Schick of Reinbeck.
She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Earl Schick; two sons, Lester Harting and Richard Harting; two daughters, Roxanne Jones and Susanne Harting; four grandchildren, Jennifer Harting, Justin Harting, Amber Jones, Amanda Jones; two brothers-in-law, Harlan Heikens, Larry Newton; and one sister-in-law, JoAnn Schick;
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. - Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at Grace Lutheran Church, Jesup, IA with burial at Washington Township Cemetery, Morrison, IA. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Monday at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, and for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
