Former Grundy Woman Suicides
Mrs. Wava Diehl Takes Own Life at Lake Park
Mrs. Wava Diehl, formerly Miss Wava Downey of Morrison, a daughter of the late Bert Downey, committed suicide at her home near Lake Park last Saturday by hanging. Her remains were brot to the mother's home at Morrison. They were sent down on Sunday night. Funeral services were held from the home Tuesday afternoon.
Despondency brought on by home-sickness is said to have been the cause of the suicide. Mrs. Diehl was very much attached to her father and mother. Since her father's death, her mother has moved back to this county. The separation from the mother brot on despondency that is believed to have resulted in the suicide. Mr. and Mrs. Diehl had made plans to come back here next spring. They had rented a farm near Hudson.
Mrs. Diehl was about twenty-eight years old. She was married at Lake Park about two years ago. There are no children.

The funeral of the late Mrs. Cleve Deal was held from the Presbyterian church at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Hayenga. A large concourse of sympathizing friends and relatives attended the last sad rites. Mrs. Deal died at her home at Lake Park Saturday and her remains were brought to Reinbeck to the home of her mother, Mrs. H. S. Downey Monday evening. Wava, as she was familiarly known around here, was born near Morrison, Iowa, and was at the time of her death 24 years of age. She resided here until the last few years. The shock of her death is doubly sad to her mother, owning to the death of her father, only a few months ago. The people of this community extend sympathy in this sad hour. Interment was made in the Morrison cemetery.
