Mrs. Estella Copley Died at Hospital; Was Sick 3 Days
Mrs. Estella M. Copley of Grundy Center died at Allen Memorial hospital in Waterloo last Friday after being sick but three days with double pneumonia. The day after she became ill her condition became serious and she was taken to the hospital where she could be given better care. She was 74 years old on the 27th of last November but she had enjoyed continuous good health and performed her household duties happily up to the time she was stricken. For the past year and a half she had made her home with her step-son, Virgil Copley, and his family.
Mrs. Copley's maiden name was Estella Marian Moore. She was born in Kane county, Ill.
She was educated in the Elgin Academy and was married to Rev. A. Rederus in October, 1892. They served pastorates in Illinois, Wisconsin and Iowa, one of which was at Morrison. Rev. Rederus passed away in January, 1913, and she was married to Thomas W. Copley of Reinbeck in February, 1916.
After Mr. Copley's death in November 1921, Mrs. Copley maintained the home for several years for the family which includes: Mrs. A. J. Terrall, Venita, Okla.; Mrs. G. G. Gardiner, Sioux City; Mrs. R. R. Mead, Peoria, Ill.; Virgil Copley, of Grundy Center; Miller Copley, Peoria, Ill.
She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Lavina McKee, and two brothers, Scott and Spencer Moore, all of Elgin, Ill., and 11 grandchildren.
She was a loyal member of the Presbyterian church all her life and won a host of friends through her devoted service to that church. Up to the time she became ill she taught the Wimodausis class of First Presbyterian church.
Funeral services were held at the Stephen funeral home in Grundy Center Monday afternoon. Burial was in the cemetery at Morrison. Pallbearers were E. E. Jackson, Reinbeck; Friend Miller, Morrison; L. E. Collins and Dale Copley, Reinbeck; C. W. Mooty, Grundy Center; James Mooty, Morrison.
Relatives from a distance who attended funeral services were: Mr. and Mrs. George Gardiner, Sioux City; Miller Copley and Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Mead, Peoria, Ill.; Mrs. W. J. McKee, Elgin, Ill.; Mrs. Chas. Mead and daughter Marjory and Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Mead, Anthon, Iowa; Roby, Elmer, Tom and Rolla Copley, Davenport; Mrs. Wm. Copley and Glenn Copley, Marshalltown, and a host of relatives and friends from Reinbeck, Lincoln and vicinity.
