Isaac Coffman Died At Morrison Friday
Had Been a Resident of Grundy County 51 Years
Isaac Coffman, who had made his home in Grundy county for more than a half century, died at his home in Morrison about ten o'clock Friday morning. Death followed a stroke of paralysis which came about ten days before. Prior to that Mr. Coffman had been in fairly good health.
Funeral services conducted by the local pastor were held at the home Sunday afternoon. Interment was made in the Morrison cemetery.
Mr. Coffman was 77 years, 7 months and one day old at the time of his death. He was born at Adeline, Illinois, and was married there. He and his family came to Grundy county fifty-one years ago. They bought a farm a short distance north of Morrison and made that their home until Mr. and Mrs. Coffman moved to town several years ago. Mr. Coffman during his long residence in this county formed a wide acquaintance among whom he was held in high esteem.
Mr. Coffman is survived by his wife and by two daughters. The daughters are Mrs. Joe McCoy and Mrs. E. H. Reimers. The latter is confined in a Cedar Rapids hospital and it was not possible for her to attend the funeral. There are several grandchildren and one great-grandchild, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Mooty.
Obituary of Isaac Coffman
Isaac Coffman was born June 17, 1851, at Adeline, Ill., and died at his home at Morrison, Iowa, January 18th, 1929, at the age of 77 years, 6 months and 1 day.He was married to Martha Fossler at Freeport, Ill., in 1876. They came to the vicinity of Morrison in the spring of 1878, where Mr. Coffman spent the remainder of his life.
He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Bessie McCoy, of Morrison, and Mrs. Etta Reimers, of Cedar Rapids; one grandchildren, Gleo Mooty of California; one great-grandchild, Bonnie Lee Mooty, of Morrison; and one brother, H. D. Coffman, of Morrison, besides a number of other relatives.
The funeral was held from the house Sunday afternoon, January 20th, conducted by the Rev. Geo. A. Wickwire. Interment was in the Morrison cemetery.
Relatives from out of town attending the funeral were: Isiah Coffman, German Valley, Ill.; Frank Coffman, Adeline, Ill.; Floyd Philbrick, Cedar Rapids; E. H. Reimers, Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Philpot and son, Harry, Cedar Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schrieber, Cedar Falls; Mrs. Belle Lynch, Cedar Falls; Dale and Maude Downey and Mr. and Mrs. Luther Morrill, of Reinbeck; Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Coffman, Grundy Center; Mildred Downey, Waterloo.
