Erna Schick, 69, Mother Of 12 Children, Died

Mrs. Erna Schick, 69, of Morrison, was dead on arrival by ambulance Tuesday evening, May 30, at Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center. She had been taken ill at her home.

Services were at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Reinbeck with burial in Washington Township Cemetery at Morrison. Rev. David Splett officiated.

Pallbearers were Lester Harting, Leland Harting, Randy Heikens, Lynn Fogt, John M. Schick and Mike Schick.

Music was furnished by Mrs. Kevin DeBerg, soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Harold Beach. The selections were "Jesus Savior Pilot Me" and "How Great Thou Art". The congregational hymns were "My Faith Looks Up To Thee" and "Asleep In Jesus".

Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Gauger, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Robertson and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Koch were in charge of floral arrangements.

Ushers were Elmer Ramsey, Walter Stirler and Kenneth Scheumann.

Mrs. Schick is survived by six sons and six daughters: John Schick of Belton, Mo.; Richard, Elgin Air Force Base in Florida; Earl and Carl Schick and Mrs. Jack Fogt of Reinbeck; Robert of Stevens Point, Wis.; Henry, at home; Mrs. Robert Harting, Jesup; Mrs. Harlan Heikens, Franklin, Va.; Mrs. Larry Newton, Grundy Center; Mrs. Curtis Hougan, Holstein; and Lois Schick, Denver, Colo.

Also surviving are a brother, Harold Fischer of Ottawa, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Scheffler, Dixon, Ill.; and Mrs. Grace Schultheir, Kenosha, Wis.; 28 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Words cannot express our deep and sincere appreciation for the many kindnesses, love, concern and support shown us in the loss of our precious Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. Your generous expressions have helped to ease the pain and loneliness left in our hearts by the loss of our loved one. Our heartfelt thanks to Pastor Splett for his words of comfort, visits, prayers and beautiful and memorable memorial service. A special thanks to the Reinbeck Emergency Squad, to Bill and Shari Marten for the use of their home, and the Dorcas Society of St. John's Lutheran Church for serving dinner and lunch. Our sincere gratitude for all the prayers, cards, visits, flowers, food and memorials. Each act of love and kindness will long be remembered and cherished by all of us. May God bless each of you.
