Mrs. W. A. Mooty Dies Suddenly At Her Home

Mrs. W. A. Mooty died very suddenly at her home in Washington township at ten o'clock Tuesday forenoon. She had been getting ready to do ironing when she was suddenly stricken while seated in a chair. The hired man on the Mooty farm, Roy Brandt, was in the room with Mrs. Mooty shortly before she was stricken. He went outside but returned within a few minutes to put coal in the stoker and he found Mrs. Mooty lying upon the floor. Dr. Kahler from Reinbeck was called and he came to the home at once. The doctor believes that Mrs. Mooty was dead when she fell to the floor. She had been afflicted with a weak heart and her doctor advised her to take things easy.

Mrs. Mooty's health had been failing during the past two years. Shortly after he returned from the armed service, her son, W. L. Mooty, took her to Excelsior Springs, Missouri, for several weeks' rest. She appeared to be much benefited by the rest while she was away and was apparently feeling better.

Mrs. Mooty's husband was taken to a retreat in Des Moines a few months ago for care and treatment. He has become afflicted with cellulitis and his condition is quite critical.

She taught in the rural schools of the county a number of years after completing her work at State Teachers.

On April 11, 1905, she was married to William A. Mooty. The couple resided on their farm in Washington township during all of their married life.

Mrs. Mooty was a member of the Reinbeck Chapter of the P.E.O. She was affiliated with the Presbyterian church at Morrison.

Surviving are the husband, one son, W. L. Mooty, and one daughter, Mrs. Helen H. Hennessy, Hillsdale, Michigan; and two brothers, Robert E. Kaufman, Grundy Center, and George Kaufman, Oakland, Calif.
