Services Friday For J. W. Drake

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the French Funeral Home in Reinbeck for J. W. Drake, age 74, who passed away Tuesday at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital, following a heart attack. Burial will be in the cemetery at Morrison.

J. W. Drake was born in Island, Kentucky, son of the late Benjamin and Elizabeth Drake. He came to Iowa in 1911. He was employed on a farm owned by Bob Morrison.

On November 26, 1914, he married Eva Appel at her home in Grundy Center. They lived in Island, Kentucky, for one year, returning to live on the Richmond farm. From there they moved to the Gray farm in Washington township, where they lived for 34 years. They retired from the farm to live in Reinbeck in December, 1950.

For the past 49 years, Mr. Drake had been a member of Masonic Lodge No. 743 AF&AM of Island, Kentucky. He was also a member of O.E.S. Chapter No. 52, of Island, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, one brother, and an infant daughter.

Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Robert Thiesen of Dysart, Mrs. Merle Hayes of Des Moines; and Mrs. Glen Whitlock of Grundy Center; and 5 grandchildren.

The Coin Chapter No. 394 AF&AM of Reinbeck will be in charge of the graveside services Friday. The family requests no flowers. A memorial fund for the benefit of the Heart Foundation will be established.
