Mrs. John Bottema Funeral Was Friday

Services for Mrs. John Bottema, Whitten, 67, who died on Monday evening, November 22 at the Grundy County Memorial hospital, were held Friday at the Whitten Christian Church with the Rev. David Saunders officiating. Burial was in the Benson cemetery. Biersborn Funeral Home of Union was in charge of the arrangements.

Born Oct. 30, 1904, she was the daughter of Fred and Mary Lubbert. On November 19, 1924, she was married to John Bottema at Grundy Center. They had lived in the Grundy Center and Whitten areas all their married life.

She is survived by her widower; four sons, Jacob, John Jr. and Lawrence of Eldora and Robert who is in Thailand with the U.S. Air Force; six daughters, Mrs. Erwin (Mildred) Neuendorf and Mrs. Clyde (Dorothy) Davidson of Eldora, Mrs. Wayne (Barina) Smith, Marshalltown, Mrs. Darwin (Delores) Buzzell of Boone, Mrs. Darrell (Esther) Ankrum, Marshalltown; and Mrs. Mildred (Etta) Moats, Grundy Center; two sisters, Mrs. Howard Card of Beaman and Mrs. Elmer Kessler of Grundy Center; three brothers, Earl of Gladbrook, Fred of Palisades, Minn. and Arthur of Des Moines, and 15 grandchildren, including Bill who is at home with the Bottemas.

Mrs. Bottema was preceded in death by one brother, one sister and four grandchildren.
