--------------------------------------------------

Almeda Green was born at Herkimer, New York, on the 3rd day of March, 1810. In early childhood she removed with her parents to Ohio and resided there until after her marriage with John Benson on the 4th day of March 1830. This union was blessed with four sons and six daughters, all of whom, except one son, are left to mourn their mother's death.

Soon after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Benson came into the territory of Iowa and began to make for themselves and their growing family a home in the frontier state. For thirty-seven years the family have made their home here, hence they were among the early pioneers of Hardin county. Mrs. Benson made profession of her faith in Christ and united with the church when about 15 years of age and ever since that time has been earnestly and actively engaged in the work of her Master. She identified herself with the Congregational church in Union in 1890 and, until kept at home through infirmities incident to her advanced years, was a faithful attendant of our services and a most humble and devout learner at the feet of Jesus.

She left the world for her home in heaven on the 8th day of April, 1902, at the age of 92 years, 1 month and 5 days. Indeed, "Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord."

Funeral services were held at the late home of the deceased on Thursday afternoon, Rev. J. B. Gonzales conducting the same, after which the body was laid to rest in the Benson cemetery.
