Lawrence Bavender
March 25, 1911 - July 21, 1993Whitten--Lawrence Bavender, 82, formerly of Whitten, died Wednesday, July 21, 1993, at Pueblo, Colo., and was cremated. Memorial services will be held Saturday, Aug. 7 at 1:30 p.m. at Whitten Community Church in Whitten, and burial will be at a later date at Benson Cemetery near Whitten. Memorials may be sent to the family.
Lawrence Bavender was born March 25, 1911 near New Providence, the son of Robert and Dora Gibbs Bavender. He graduated from Whitten High School in 1929. On Dec. 17, 1931 he married Helen Eggleston in Princeton, Mo. He farmed near New Providence, Whitten, and Iowa Falls. In 1969 he left farming and moved to Catawba, N.C., where he was employed at a furniture company until retiring in 1986. He moved to Pueblo, Colo., in June of this year. He was a member of the Whitten Community Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Katherine Yohn, Apple Valley, Minn.; Ginger Vandervort, Ankeny; Rosemary Cervetti, Green Island, Iowa; three sons, Robert, of Whitten; Kingford, of Chaska, Minn.; Lee of Pueblo, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Howard, Baton Rouge, La. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
Biersborn Funeral Home of Union is in charge of arrangements.
