Mrs. Cora Long Dies at Whitten

Mrs. Cora Long died at her home in Whitten early Friday afternoon from a heart ailment with which she had been afflicted for a long time. She was 84 years old. Funeral services were held Monday at the Christian church at Whitten.

Mrs. Long's maiden name was Cora Waring. She was born in Janesville, Wis., Oct. 8, 1860. As a child she came to Grinnell with her parents.

July 4, 1881, she married Elias Long of Grundy county. They moved to Wayne county, Neb., in 1885 to their farm near Winside, spending seven years, moving in March, 1892, to Whitten where she had lived for more than 50 years.

Mr. Long died June 14, 1905, and an infant son, Orlen Elias, March 3, 1903.

She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. C. E. Barnes and Mrs. F. L. Miller, Eldora; Mrs. Iva C. Larson, Nevada; Mrs. E. H. Montz, Northfield, Minn.; four sons, C. F. Long, Union; Walter W. Long, C. Ray Long, Loyd L. Long, of Whitten; 19 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Bert B. Waring, Portland, Ore.; one sister, Mrs. Thos. Cowell, of Chicago.

Three brothers, Frank, James and Edward, and two sisters, Belle and Rosa, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Long was an active member of the Whitten Christian church and its organizations since 1892 and a member of the Pythian Sisters and Eastern Star.
