Dike Native, Raymond Murphy Died Dec. 31st

Raymond X. Murphy, 72, of 1002 1/2 Commercial St., Waterloo passed away at his home at 6 a.m. of emphysema last Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1974.

Funeral services for Mr. Murphy were held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waterloo on Friday, Jan. 2 at 10:30 a.m. Burial was in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery south of Dike. A parish rosary was held Thursday evening at the Oppold Funeral Home.

Raymond X. Murphy was born August 17, 1902 near Dike, the son of William C. and Elizabeth O'Connor Murphy (on the place now being farmed by Gaylord Billerbeck). The family later moved to Dike where Wm. Murphy operated a livery barn. Raymond had been employed at Rath's for sometime. He was married to Minnie Neessen of Wellsburg on Nov. 23, 1920.

Survivors include his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Darlene Lown of Minneapolis, Minn. and a sister, Miss Kathryn Murphy in a Waterloo nursing home.
