Mrs. Helen Doonan Died in Minnesota

Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Doonan were held Friday, Feb. 2, at 10:30 a.m. at the Doyen Funeral Home. Pastor John H. Elenbaas was officiating clergyman. Mrs. Ivan Slifer and Mrs. Harold Okones sang, accompanied by Mrs. LuRay Neessen. Interment was made in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens at Marshalltown.

Mrs. Doonan passed away Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 30, at the Retirement Center of Wright County in Buffalo, Minn. due to complications of advanced age. She had made her home at the Retirement Center for the past three years. She reached the age of 83 years, 11 months and 28 days.

She was born on a farm south of Wellsburg on Feb. 2, 1889, the daughter of Claus and Gesina (Riekena) Primus. She attended school in Wellsburg. In March of 1917 she was united in marriage to Samuel Doonan. Following their marriage they made their home in Holland, Minn. where they were engaged in the hardware business. In 1941 they retired and moved to Marshalltown. Mr. Doonan passed away in 1965.

Those preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, 1 son Duane who passed away in 1969, 1 brother and 3 sisters.

She is survived by 1 son, Samuel Doonan of Minnetonka, Minn.; 2 daughters, Mrs. Claudia Bueghly of Fairfield, Wash., Mrs. Sylvia Erickson of Los Angeles, Calif.; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
