Mrs. Miner (Gertie) Haack

Mrs. Miner (Gertie) Haack died on June 16 at the Mapleleaf Healthcare Center in Mt. Pleasant, where she had been residing since 1977.

Gertie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Argen Geerdes, was born on February 19, 1891 in Wellsburg, where she was reared and educated. She was married on October 29, 1913 to Miner Haack in Wellsburg, where they lived until 1935. The family then moved to Webster City.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

She is survived by her four children: Mrs. David (Hila) Lane of Sun City, Arz.; Meyel (Bud) of Groveland, Florida; Mrs. Robert (Marian) Lofgren, Mt. Pleasant; and Gordon A. of Rochester, Michigan. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church during her years in Webster City and was a past member of the Womans' Club.

Memorial services will be held at a later date in Webster City. The body was cremated.

Gertie Haack Dies At 95 In Mt. Pleasant

Mrs. Miner (Gertie) Haack died on Monday evening, June 16, at the Mapleleaf Healthcare Center in Mt. Pleasant, IA, where she had been residing since 1977.

Gertie, the daughter of Helen and Argen Geerdes, was born on February 19, 1891, in Wellsburg where she was reared and educated.

She was united in marriage on October 29, 1913 to Miner Haack in Wellsburg where they made their home until 1935, when the family moved to Webster City.

She is survived by four children: Mrs. David (Hila) Lane of Sun City, AZ; Meyel (Bud) Haack of Groveland, FL; Mrs. Robert (Marian) Lofgren, Mt. Pleasant; and Gordon A. Haack, Rochester, MI; also 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and brothers George and Henry Geerdes.

While in Wellsburg she was a member of the Christian Reformed Church and in Webster City she became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Graveside services will be held at a later date in Webster City. The body was cremated.
