Services Held for Wallace C. Ford

Services for Wallace Clinton Ford, who died quite suddenly July 4 in the Sheridan, Wyoming hospital from an acute heart ailment, were held Friday at the Ravenswood Methodist Church in Chicago. Dr. Garfield A. Dawe was in charge. The body was sent to Wellsburg and burial services were held at Hazel Green cemetery west of here on Saturday, July 8. Rev. Carl Toeset was in charge of this service.

He was born June 20, 1930 in Chicago and spent most of his boyhood in Evanston, Illinois until attending Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Wallace Ford was a graduate of the Evanston, Ill. high school, and a 1952 graduate of Coe College in Cedar Rapids.

He entered flight training in the Air Force in August, 1952.

He was married to Joan Claassen on Nov. 7, 1953 at Wellsburg.

In 1955, Mr. Ford was involved in an airplane crash and spent over two years in the Portsmouth, Virginia Naval hospital. He was retired from the air force in August 1957 and took up ranching near Arvada, Wyoming.

He was a lifelong member of the Ravenswood Methodist church in Chicago.

Surviving are his widow, Joan Claassen Ford; his father, W. Roland Ford of Glenview, Ill.; three sisters, Mrs. Louise Brooks of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Mrs. Donald Pittman of Kenosha, Wisconsin; and Mrs. Harmon B. Deal of Glenview, Illinois; two brothers, Roland M. Ford of Indianapolis, Indiana and James Ford of Glenview, Illinois; and fourteen nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, the late Eleanor Abbott Ford, in April 1960.

Pallbearers for the service in Chicago were Howard G. Levitetz, R. Tilden, James H. Cartwright, Barton R. Brookman, Richard W. McBride and Capt. P. J. Erdle, U.S.A.F.

Pallbearers for the Hazel Green service were Thomas Akkerman, Lawrence Hamilton, Glen Staley, Glen Hamilton, Virgil Claassen, and Tom Claassen.
